Plug your CYD (ESP32-2432S028R) into USB and click — no download, no toolchain.

Most CYDs are the dual-USB type (both a USB-C and a micro-USB port) — leave the default. Pick Elegoo only if your board has a single USB-C port, or the picture comes up sideways / with red&blue swapped on the default build.

Uses WebSerial (Chrome/Edge, desktop). It erases the board and installs the latest GridBot build.

Kids snap together commands — forward, turn, jump, loop, function, sense, zap — hit RUN, and watch their robot try to reach the battery. It never ends, it gets harder, and new powers unlock as they climb. Then, at the very end, GridBot flips it: once you can write the rules, you learn to train them — backprop, Q-learning, evolution — all on the same $10 board. Fully offline.

GridBot teaches programming and a genuine intro to machine learning — backprop, reinforcement learning, evolution, memory (RNNs), even self-play — as things you do and watch, not jargon. The Grown-Up Guide sits beside the game: the big idea + questions to ask for every lesson, a classroom track, an AI4K12 / CSTA standards map, and an honest "is this really how AI works?" appendix. No coding or AI background needed.
